Description
The Beaphar Indoor Behaviour Spray is a training aid to discourage undesirable scratching, chewing, or gnawing behaviors indoors in dogs (and by extension areas accessible to cats). You spray it onto objects or surfaces you want your pet to avoid; the formula contains Bitrex and a blend of citronella/odor deterrents that pets find unpleasant, making them less likely to revisit the treated area.
It does not repel animals broadly—it's meant as a behavior training tool, not a repellent. Use it in conjunction with verbal cues or training so your pet learns alternative behaviors.
Key Features
-
Helps deter scratching, chewing & gnawing on treated surfaces
-
Contains Bitrex & citronella (or similar deterrent odors)
-
Safe for many indoor surfaces (test first for staining)
-
Reusable: reapply every 2–3 days or as needed
-
Supports training, not a standalone solution
Ingredients
Includes Bitrex (denatonium benzoate) plus a citronella-based odor component and inert carriers. Used in safe concentrations for indirect exposure.
How to Use
-
Test a small, hidden spot first for colorfastness.
-
Spray from about 15–20 cm onto the object/area you want to protect—approx. 20 pumps per 1 m².
-
Let it dry, then allow your pet access—when they touch or sniff, the unpleasant taste or smell helps create avoidance.
-
Reapply every 2–3 days until behavior improves.
-
Never spray directly onto the animal.
-
Continue using verbal corrections or “no” commands when behavior begins, to reinforce training.
When to Use
-
To protect furniture, curtains, carpets, or woodwork from chewing/scratching
-
In new homes, with puppies, or during behavior retraining
-
To discourage growth of bad habits while training alternatives
-
As a secondary tool in a broader behavior modification plan
